DETAILS OF PASTOR ADEBOYE AND BISHOP OYEDEPO

To a lot of people, Pastor Adeboye , the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God and Bishop Oyedepo, the founder of the Living Faith Word Outreach(a.k.a Winners Chapel), are mostly regarded as contemporaries. This is because they are among the most admired men of God in the country. They are both seen as pioneers of the Christian Charismatic Movement in Africa, and are most known among the powerful preachers in Nigeria. But what a lot of people don’t know is that these 2 great men of God are more than just been colleagues in the Pastoral circle, as they come way back together.
City People can authoritatively reveal to you that there is a strong bond between these two men of God and their friendship dates back 30 years. Anyone who is close to them will testify to the close relationship they share and they have never missed out on each other’s milestone. No matter the exclusivity of the event; they will always be present and even play a visible role. A perfect example was when their sons got married. When Bishop Oyedepo’s son, David jnr, got married 2 years ago, it was an exclusive event, and the wedding which took place in Canaanland, Sango Otta, had Pastor Adeboye and some powerful men of God in attendance. But out of all the guests present, Pastor Adeboye played a special role at the event. The same was the case last year, when Pastor Adeboye’s son got married. The exclusive and private wedding also saw Bishop Oyedepo in attendance.
That’s not all about these 2 great men of God. They always support each other’s ministry. They have played the role of Chief speakers at a lot of the powerful crusades and anointing services organized both by Winners Chapel and Redeemed Christian Church of God. Despite their very busy schedules, they don’t joke with each other, when it comes to these special meetings.
What a lot of people also don’t know is that their friendship dates back to the 80s. According what City People gathered, they both met while in Ilorin, Kwara State, where Pastor Adeboye and Bishop Oyedepo actually started their ministries. Pastor Adeboye was a mathematics lecturer, and worked at the universities of Lagos and Ilorin. He had PHD in applied mathematics from the University of Lagos. In 1981, Pastor Adeboye became General Overseer of the RCCG, making him head of the Church, after the death of the founder, Akindayomi the previous year. For three years he filled the role part-time, while still lecturing at Ilorin, Kwara State, until he gave up University position to preach full-time.
Bishop Oyedepo also used to work at the Federal Ministry of Housing Corporation in Ilorin, Kwara State, before resigning to concentrate on missionary work . He received a mandate from God in May 1981 to 'liberate the world from all oppression of the devil through the preaching of the word of faith. This is the inaugural vision that led to the founding of the LFCWW, first called Liberation Faith Hour Ministries, in 1981. But unknown to many however, it was actually Pastor Adeboye of RCCG who ordained Bishop Oyedepo as a Pastor. Two years after after Bishop Oyedepo started his ministry, precisely 17 September 1983, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, who at that time had become the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, ordained David and his wife, Florence Abiola Akano (now known as Faith Abiola Oyedepo) as Pastors. He also
officially commissioned the newly established church of Bishop Oyedepo, Winners Chapel.
Ever since, their friendship has continued to grow stronger . They are not just friends, they also shared a lot of similaries . For instance, they are both refered to as fathers of Christianity. While Bishop Oyedepo is fondly referred to as Papa, Pastor Adeboye is also popularly known as Daddy G.O. They both control two of the largest and fastest growing churches in Nigeria with over 100,000 worshippers. Their churches has made its presence known both within and outside Nigeria. Very few men of God in Nigeria possess their gift of presence, the aura to inspire people to act, to be active participants in the things concerning God’s word, as Pastor Enoch A. Adeboye and Bishop David Oyedepo. They both have special “power of anointing”, and their crusades both command gigantic audiences. Over the years, both Pastor Adeboye and Bishop Oyedepo have continued to use their gift as Apostles of Christ as critical tools in reaching the hearts and minds of millions of people in Nigeria and beyond
Currently, they both run private universities, The Redeemer University and Covenant University, and both of them are Pro-chancellors of their respective universities. They are the first Pastors to acquire private jets and yatch in Nigeria. Pastor Adeboye acquired the aircraft years after Bishop Oyedepo acquired his own, a challenger aircraft, with number D6640, which was parked a few metres away from Bishop Oyedepo’s Gulfstream at the General Aviation Terminal (GAT), Lagos.
They are also both highly connected and have friends in high places, like Head of States, Governors, Royal Fathers, top government officials, Captains of industry and a host of others.
They have both live an exemplemnary lives and have become role models to the new generations. Most importantly, they both wield massive influence within the Christendom and beyond.
